Board Self-Evaluation Survey

An honest annual look at board effectiveness, from inside the boardroom.

4 questions · 1 page · about 3 minutes to answer · fully editable after you start

Boards evaluate everything except themselves. This annual self-evaluation asks members to rate the board's real work – strategic focus versus rubber-stamping, meeting quality, fundraising contribution, oversight rigour – and to name the conversation the board keeps avoiding, anonymously.

Have a governance committee or external facilitator run it and present themes, not names. The avoided-conversation answers set the agenda for the retreat; that is the point of asking.
