Records Request Feedback

Transparency in practice: request ease, response time, and answer usefulness.

4 questions · 1 page · about 2 minutes to answer · fully editable after you start

Freedom-of-information regimes are measured by statute and experienced by requesters. This feedback reviews the practice: request submission ease, acknowledgement and timeline adherence, and the answer's actual responsiveness – full, partial, or artfully evasive – plus fee reasonableness where charged.

The distinction between compliance and responsiveness is the entire point of running this. An organisation can hit every statutory deadline, answer within scope, and still leave every requester feeling stonewalled – and no compliance dashboard will ever show it, because the statistics it reports are the ones the statute defines.

The answered-what-I-asked score is the transparency truth: technically compliant responses that dodge the question are logged here. Watch the refusal-explanation answers especially – a refusal that requesters understand costs the organisation very little trust, while the same refusal delivered as an unexplained exemption reference generates appeals, journalism, and the impression that something is being hidden even when nothing is.
