Hackathon Participant Survey
After the caffeine settles: team formation, mentors, judging fairness, and outcomes.
4 questions · 1 page · about 2 minutes to answer · fully editable after you start
Hackathons are judged by participants on fairness and flow: whether team formation worked for solo joiners, mentors circulated meaningfully, APIs and infrastructure held, and judging felt transparent. This survey collects the verdict while the demo adrenaline fades.
Ask within forty-eight hours, before sleep rewrites the weekend. Participants who have recovered remember the winners and the pizza; participants surveyed on the Monday still remember the two hours lost to a broken API key and the mentor who never came back after the first round.
The project-continuing question measures the event's real output: hacks that live past the weekend are the story sponsors fund next year. Pay closest attention to the answers from people who arrived without a team – solo joiners are the participants an event most easily fails, and their team-formation experience is the difference between a hackathon that grows its community each year and one that quietly becomes the same twelve friends.
